Prime Minister Manmohan Singh will undergo a bypass surgery on Saturday. He has more than one blocked artery. He has already been admitted to the AIIMS on Friday afternoon for pre-surgery tests. Union Minister of External Affairs Pranab Mukherjee, meanwhile, will officiate in the absence of Dr Singh. Here's wishing the Prime Minister a quick recovery.

I can't see any other leader in UPA who has a stature like you (except Sonia Gandhi). You did it for our economy, you did it for our foreign policy and still believe there is much in you to offer to billion indians.

Come back soon dear Prime Minister.

I wish the PM a speedy recovery. Yet it leaves me wondering why he chose a private surgeon from Mumbai to do his operation rather than rely on Government surgeons from the All India Institute. Probably he doesn't feel secure in placing his life at the hands of doctors whom his government has rebuffed in the past by bringing in reservations for OBC doctors in post graduate courses and removing competent people like Dr. Venugopal.
All these measures are good for pragamatic purposes like vote bank politics, yet when it comes to the crunch of placing your life at the scalpel of a person whom you have antagonised, you are terrified and don't trust him.
The same can be said of Anbumani Ramadoss the health minister. His party the PMK was one of the main proponents of reservation for OBC's in higher institutions. Recently his father in law Dr. Rajasekharan underwent a total knee replacement in Apollo hospital Chennai. Dr. Rajasekharan has been the chairman of the National academy of medical sciences.
Yet for his surgery, he didn't trust doctors from the AIIMS.
A Knee surgeon from Delhi was flown in to Chennai and the surgery was done under wraps by admitting it under the name of another local surgeon from Chennai.

So when it comes to their own lives or the health of their dear ones, our politicians run from the very doctors whom they have brought into power by enforcing Government regulations.
This is the devastation they have wrought on themselves and the country. What is good for the common man is simply not good for them.

Dear Mr. Prime Minister,

I join the nation, why nation I say the world, in praying for your successful bypassing of blocks that exist in your coronaries.

It is exemplary that our Prime Minister decided to undergo surgery at no place other than our own Govt Institute. That's a different thing that best from the country have been roped in to operate you! That had to be done!!

I join the nation in wishing you a quick post-operative recovery and I would like to see you back in the PMO till you are with us in the earth.

May you contribute for years and years for the furtherance of India and this world.

There are hundreds of Indians who undergo heart surgery but the PMs surgery is taking up most of the channel headlines. It is time we stop putting these politicians on a pedestal. Personally he may be a nice person but he has been a disaster for the country.
After 26/11 we were cribbing against the NSG being used for VIP protection while the common man was not being given security. It is high time we break out of this colonial feeling of bondage and treat these politicians and civil servants as one amongst equals.
