Pakistan accepts India

Pakistan accepts India's charges: Has India's coercive diplomacy worked?

TimePosted by IBNLive at 02:19 PM, Feb 12, 2009 in Shows

More than two months after the Mumbai terror strikes, Pakistan has officially accepted India's charges. Sagarika Ghose debates whether India's coercive diplomacy has worked, on CNN-IBN's show Face The Nation with a panel of experts.

Although Pakistan has accepted India's charges partially, prosecuting the culprits in Pakistan will be an eye wash as history shows even dead man talking. So only if they hand over them to India we can fully agree that India's coercive diplomacy have worked.

India has shown a lot of patience in dealing with the terrorism. That has worked finally.

I can't say India's coercive diplomacy has worked completely, but partially - yes! If Pakistan takes stern action hoenstly, I will say it has worked. That's the million dollar question now. Otherwise it is simply another trick of Pakistan to show "Goody-goody" image to the rest of the world.

Well honestly, I voted 'yes' but now i feel that it was not the diplomaxy that worked but the meticulosly prepared dossier that worked. There is no question of any diplomacy here. India had enough evidence to show to the world that the attack was planned in Pakistan and despite this instead of being able to isolate Pakistan (thats where the test of diplomacy lies), we are feeling happy that Pakistan had addmitted that a part of attacks were planned in Pakistan.

There is diplomacy in this. Please try to isolate, insult and ignore Pakistan internationally and if we succed in doing that only once then that would give us a sense of beginning.

Dear Sir
Dear Madam,
It is wrong to totally believe that India's coercive diplomacy has worked.
Pakistan would not have accepted any of the opinions of the Indians ayt all.

The attack by the Americans, especially by Mr Obama had changed its policy. Moreover the undercutting of the help and the aids by America to pakistan had and has made them to rethink about their vision about their needs, their country, and their relation with the USA and with the problems of Talibans and the Talibanisations,Pakistan thought it better to acdept the American pressure and agree to this incident, else they would have faced more problems from America.

The country and its politicians could now howl and bark about their success and take a lot of credit for it, and may even try to convert into a vote bank-but the truth is HAS AND HAD NOT BEEN Mr OBAMA'S PRESSURISING TACTICS ON PAKISTAN, THEY WOULD NOT HAVE SUCCUMBED TO ANY OF INDIAS CHARGES to accept anything.

Thanks
Regards

India's consistent pressure on Pak and its diplomacy has worked. But it is not correct to term it as coercive.India came out with clinching evidences of Pak citizens'involvement in the 26/11 attacks on Mumbai.Pak had been rejecting this all these days but some how good sense has prevailed upon it and now it admits its citizen were involved including Kasab and has lodged FIRs against them in Pak.India's stand has been vindicated before thee entire international community and now the world is convinced that Pak is the haven for terrorists.
