Around 18,000 people are expected to attend the memorial of Michael Jackson at the Staples Center arena in downtown Los Angeles,. The police expect hundreds of thousands of fans to converge on the area. Jackson, the sensationally gifted "King of Pop", became the world's most influential singer and dancer before his life and career deteriorated in a freakish series of scandals. Jackson died on June 26 at the age of 50.
