I was saddened and initially shocked to hear of Michael Jackson's demise. For two or three days, my mind was in a whirl. Somebody whom we had all idolized in the 1980s, someone whose musical achievements were so legendary, had died - it was a bit beyond my comprehension at that time. A part of me still lives in the 1980s, I still can't believe time has flown so fast.

Regarding his status in history, there is no doubt he will always remain one of time's timeless legends. He was a musical genius. I would even go so far as to say his music was futuristic for his times; if you doubt me, try singing "Wanna be starting something" from his album "Thriller". Even Whitney Houston made of mess of it when she tried. Only Michael Jackson could sing such a song...or compose it for that matter. So after a quarter century, strange though it may sound, his music is still futuristic in the sense that no one has produced that style of music. His level of musicianship was so high that one could enjoy and relate to the music, but not imitate it.

And though his heyday was back in the 1980s, his era is here to stay. A hundred years from now, I am sure his CDs (or whatever storage medium is then available) will still be a collector's item.

And so the beginning of the end may just be the end of the beginning, of part one, to be precise.

May god give courage to your children to bear this life time loss.
