What can be done to make trains safer?

What do you think can be done to make trains safer in India? Should there be more police personnel deployed? Should railway platforms be monitored closely? Tell us what you think should be done to make travel by train a safer experience.

There should be CCTV cameras installed in all major stations with propoer monitoring and maintenance. All kinds of illegal travellers, sellers, rag-pickers etc should be restricted from entering the train. Police personnels should be held more highly accountable for their duties and also should be trained. They should be given the responsibilty of serving the legal passengers than trying to fill their pockets by searching for reasons to burden the passengers.

If we see, Railways has put the system to make trains safer. however at implementation stage, it is not reached at every corner especially in remote areas where train journey is not safe in night. I feel every responsible person who falls under jurisdiction of fault happening place should be make accountable and be punished in the manner of finacially, physically or bebarring their career growth etc depending on the irresponsibility they carried out Once officers and managers be accounted for their fault immediately, they will be compelled to managed the system in efficient manner and thus problem will be solved.

Firstly, make it compulsary for all the elected representatives(MLA's,MP's) and all government officials to take the train when they are on any official duty or when they are visiting their constituency,so that all the railway officials will work more cautiously and most rail accidents can be avoided, because most of them happen due to negligence of railway officials who never care for the safety of common man of INDIA.
The above solution will take care of all the problems in INDIAN RAILWAYS.

Two Vital changes are required. (1) Door closures should be made with sensors and (2) provide better air ventilators shutters which can help closing of window shutters. These will help the lone policemen present for 3 to 4 bogies at a time.

Firstly, the guards at the railway stations should be 24*7 alert. There are more crime scenes due to people who masquerade and drop dangerous things either at the station or in the compartments. Therefore thorough checking system should be available at the entrance. Secondly, cleaning should be done at regular intervals and people who throw papers and other materials inside their compartments should be chareged only then people will stop messing around because it ultimately leads to health issues and begging inside the trains should be not allowed.

There should be more alert police peronnel on trains, as I found in my trip that some sleep through out the night. You can install intercoms in each coaches which has direct access to the driver or security people. Also you can install satellite devices to track the trains, I believe that idea has been proposed.
