Itanagar, Jul 1 (PTI) Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jarbom Gamlin has assured that his government would urge the union Railways, Consumer Affairs and the Food and Public Distribution ministries to have food items dispatched on priority from Rangia railway main transit centre in Assam to the state.Gamlin gave the assurance yesterday evening when the five-member state level Food Corporation of India (FCI) consultative committee, comprising Anok Wangsa, Nabam Jollow, Tacho Kabak, Nima Sange and Karto Kaye called on the former to apprise him of hitches in the PDS that they learned about during their recent inspection tour of FCI godowns in East Siang and Upper Siang districts besides Dhemaji and North Lakhimpur in Assam. They said the Rangia Railways authority has not released 42 and 84 metre gauge railways food wagons to the FCI godown in Arunachal, and also informed that PDS items under various schemes are not reaching the targeted beneficiaries and consumers of Arunachal in spite of regular and timely disbursement from the FCI.The members also urged Gamlin to direct deputy commissioners to establish PDS godowns in the districts, citing the example of Upper Siang where PDS items do not reach on time because of lack of a godown in the district. The CM said he would also take steps for early demarcation of land in Aalo, Koloriang, Anjaw and Yingkiong for the construction of FCI godowns.
