

2nd police official killed within 3 days in Punjab
PTI | 08:02 PM,Feb 05,2012Sangrur, Feb 5 (PTI) In the second such case in Punjab within a span of three days, a state police officer was killed by some unknown persons at a village in Sangrur district, police said today. Close on the heels of murder of Moga DSP, an assistant sub inspector of Punjab Police was killed by unidentified persons near Chhapa village of Sangrur, police said. Body of Harbhajan Singh, posted at Sehna police station in Barnala district was found today under mysterious circumstances. The body was found in pool of blood, SHO, Thuliwal Kulwant Singh said. Harbhajan was the elder brother of DSP (Rural) Patiala. A car, bearing a Delhi number plate was found 1 km away from the place of the crime, the SHO said. It is suspected that the accused tried to escape in the vehicle, but abandoned it after it got stuck in a drain near Chhapa village. Mobile phone, a gold ring and the uniform of the slain ASI was missing from the spot, and blood spots were detected on window of the driver's seat of the vehicle, the SHO said. SSP Barnala, Dhanpreet Kaur Randhawa visited the spot. A case of murder was registered by the police against unidentified persons on statement of deceased's son. Police said three migrant labourers have been held for questioning. On February 2, bodies of Moga DSP Balraj Singh Gill and a young woman were found at a farm house in Golf Link apartments at Hambran road. Both were murdered with sharp-edged weapons.
