

Arunachal engages NEDFi for monitoring central schemes
PTI | 05:09 PM,Sep 02,2010Itanagar, Sep 2 (PTI) Arunachal Pradesh has engaged North East Development Finance Corporation (NEDFi) for third party monitoring of various central schemes being executed in the state.The corporation will monitor all schemes under special plan assistance (SPA), rural infrastructure development fund (RIDF) and border area development programme (BADP) for the financial year 2009-10, official sources said today.A memorandum of understanding (MoU) was inked between NEDFi and state government here yesterday with Planning Secretary Ankur Garg and CMD, NEDFi B.P Muktieh having signed the contract in presence of Development Commissioner V.K Deb, chief engineers of all works departments besides officials from the corporation.NEDFi would be covering a total of eight districts in the eastern sector, while North East Electrical Power Corporation (NEEPCO) will cover the eight districts in western part in third party monitoring process, sources added.NEDFi was also entrusted with the job of third party monitoring for SPA in 2008-09.In order to provide transparency in governance on earlier occasions, Chief Minister Dorjee Khandu announced for third party monitoring of all the central schemes, including projects under over Rs 20,000 crore Prime Minister's development package, announced during his visit to the state on January 2009.
