

Barco announces product parnership with Real Image Media Tech
PTI | 10:10 PM,Oct 22,2010Chennai, Oct 22 (PTI) Belgium-headquartered digital projection solutions provider Barco today announced a product partnership with Real Image Media Technologies in India in the area of digital cinema. The partnership would involve installing Barco digital equipment and solutions and training personnel, Nalin Advani, Managing Director, Barco India told a press conference here. 'Besides metros, we are targeting mid-size and smaller customers in Tier II and III cities as there is a potential for 2000 digital cinemas in India in the coming years,' he said. It would take about USD 1-2 lakh to manage the content, he added. Commenting on today's partnership, Arvind Ranganathan, CEO, Real Image, said that the range of digital cinema projectors by Barco was 'ideal for this market,' be it the mid-sized multiplex or the large single screen. Richard Marples,Director, Media and Entertainment, Asia Pacific, Barco, said that the company had a market share of 30 per cent with a 'strong' presence in countries including UK, Belgium, France, Italy. To a query, Advani said that India cotributed to about ten percent of the revenue for the USD one bn enterprise and projected a 20 per cent year-on-year growth in India in the coming years. Investments were being made in India, he said without divuging details. Barco hired about 400 employees in India and had a production facility at Noida which manufcatured components, he added.
