

Bholakpur case: 5 Water Board officers arrested
PTI | 10:07 PM,Jul 29,2010Hyderabad, July 29 (PTI) Five officials of Hyderabad Water Board were today arrested in connection with the death of 13 persons, who died after drinking contaminated water in Bholakpur area last year. "Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply & Sewerage Board Chief General Manager Manohar Babu and four other officials were arrested after a case under Section 304A (causing death by negligence) and Section 270 (malignant act likely to spread infection of disease dangerous to life) of IPC was registered against them," a senior police officer told PTI. The officials, however, were later let off on personal bonds, he said. Regarding the delay in arresting the officials, the police officer said, "it is only after completion of investigations and finding enough charges that we arrested them. None of them was absconding." Thirteen people lost their lives and hundreds others fell sick after consuming the contaminated water in May last year.
