Chikka meets Pritam Haridas in All India Amateur golf final
PTI | 05:02 PM,Feb 05,2011Coimbatore, Jun 8 (PTI) Bangalore golfer Praful Chand took advantage of overnight leader, Sidharth Seth's horrendous start of three successive bogeys to take over the lead at the end of the second day of the Tamil Nadu Open Amateur golf tournament here today. As Sidharth dropped to a round of 80, Praful moved ahead with a 77 at the Coimbatore Golf Course. Praful is now 12-over 156, while Delhi Golf Club's Sidharth is at 157 at the par-72 course. But the star of the second day was Delhi Air Force Golf Club's Amarjeet Baisoya, who after a disastrous 84 on first day improved by 10 shots with a 74. Amarjeet moved to the third place, one behind Sidharth on yet another tough day, when strong winds were compounded by high humidity. Taking a toll on most golfers was the eighth, a dogleg par-4 measuring 443 yards. But Praful and Amarjeet birdied the holes, even as most golfers came to grief. There were just two scores in the 70s, indicating how tough the course played. The top 60 scores made it to the final two rounds and the top 50 scores will qualify for the categorised events, the Interstate Open at Coimbatore and Southern India Amateur at KGA Bengalore.
