PTI | 10:07 PM,Jul 31,2010

Berhampur (Orissa), Jul 31 (PTI) Congress MLA Ramesh Jena was released from the circle jail here today on conditional bail granted by Cuttack High Court. Jena, elected from Sanakhemundi assembly constituency in Orissa's Ganjam district and the sole Congress MLA in Orissa, had been behind the bars for over two and a half months since his arrest on May 13 from Visakahapatnam in connection with the murder of a local gangster Rabi Behera alias Chicken Rabi on January 1. Jena had absconded for about two months after his name was disclosed by other two accused in the case before he was arrested. Police had raided several places in the state as well as outside before his arrest. He is also an accused in two other cases - threatening a jail inmate inside the prison and attempt to commit a dacoity. HC judge Justice B K Patel had completed the prolonged hearing on his bail petition on Tuesday and had reserved order till today. As per the HC order he would stay away from the municipal area of Berhampur and intimate his telephone number to the superintendent of police and deputy commissioner of police of Bhubaneswar. Besides, he would not leave the state without permission from the court, his counsel Prahallad Behera said.
