Cooch Behar residents to get sugar from Septemeber first week
PTI | 06:08 PM,Aug 19,2010Cooch Behar (WB), Aug 19 (PTI) With residents of Cooch Behar district not getting sugar in modified ration shops, efforts were being made to get it from the WBECSC in Siliguri.District controller of Food and Supplies department in the district Shyamal Seal said efforts were being made to get sugar from the WBECSC in Siliguri, as there was no stock of sugar in Cooch Behar.It was expected that customers would get sugar from the MR shops from the first week of September, he said.Asked about the quality of rice sold through MR shops, Seal said the MR dealers were instructed not to sell below standard rice from their shops."If it is found that dealers replaced the rice supplied with inferior quality rice the department will take immediate action," he said. Steps would also be taken against mills supplying substandard rice. If necessary, the department would send Quality Inspector to examine the quality of rice, he added.
