PTI | 10:07 PM,Jul 27,2010Patiala, Jul 27 (PTI) Seventy kg of gold bricks were recovered and four persons have been detained by the Punjab excise department in Rajpura here. A special team of the excise department intercepted a car at a checkpost and recovered gold bricks weighing 70 kg from it, officials said. The vehicle was enroute to Kathua in Jammu and Kashmir from New Delhi. The occupants of the car -- two security guards carrying rifles, a driver and a caretaker of the gold -- were detained for questioning. The excise officials said detainees had the bill of the yellow metal, which showed it arrived in India from Ghana via UAE, but they were inconsistent in their reply while interrogation. A special team to Kathua has been sent to verify the address where they were supposed to deliver the metal, officials said.
