

''Ex-IAF lady officer was in live-in relationship''
PTI | 10:09 PM,Sep 12,2011Bhopal, Sep 12 (PTI) The case of alleged suicide by sacked IAF flying officer Anjali Gupta took a new turn today with her family members claiming before police that she was in a "live-in" relationship with a Group Captain, police said.Anjali's family members informed the police that she was in a live-in relationship with Group Captain Amit Gupta for the past few years. Amit was separated from his wife but had not yet divorced her, they said.Anjali, the first lady officer to be court martialled by Indian Air Force, arrived here on September 7 and stayed at Amit's residence in Rohit Nagar. On September 8, Amit left for Delhi to take part in his son's engagement ceremony after which she took the extreme step, possibly due to depression, they said.She allegedly ended her life by hanging herself to a ceiling fan at Amit's house, where she was alone yesterday.Police are likely to call the Group Captain for questioning tonight, they said.Anjali's postmortem was conducted today and its report is awaited.Police will also record the statement of her family members and depending upon its content may register a case of abetment of suicide against Amit.Anjali, who had accused her senior officers of sexually abusing her, was dismissed by the IAF in February 2006 after she was found guilty on seven counts.
