PTI | 11:06 PM,Jun 09,2011

Panaji, Jun 9 (PTI) Goa government has decided to commission Rural Medical Dispensaries (RMDs) for the remote rural areas, state health minister Vishwajit Rane said today. Ten RMDs, each costing Rs one crore, will be opened soon in the state's far-flung areas, where health facilities are not available. Rane said that facilities such as dental clinic, ultrasound, blood checking and in some cases dialysis, would be offered through these centres, which would be manned by a permanent doctor round the clock. Goa will also become the first state to have a diabetic's registry, which will keep the record of all the diabetes patients in the state, the minister said. Registry will be maintained in association with Danish health care firm, Novo Nordisks, he said.
