

Haryana to provide ration cards to homeless
PTI | 08:08 PM,Aug 31,2010Chandigarh, Aug 31 (PTI) Haryana government has decided to provide temporary ration cards to people identified as 'homeless' in a survey conducted by the government and these ration cards will be valid for one year. The ration cards will also be provided to brick kiln workers through a campaign to be launched in November. This was stated at a meeting of Committee of Secretaries on Rural Development presided Chief Secretary Urvashi Gulati here today, an official release said. Gulati said the ration cards to the homeless and brick kiln workers would ensure availability of foodgrains at highly subsidized rates to the poor sections of the society.PTI CHS
