

HP rolls out G-7 series HP Proliant servers in Gujarat
PTI | 09:07 PM,Jul 29,2010Ahmedabad, Jul 29 (PTI) Hewelett Packard today rolled out 25 new models of its energy efficient G-7 series-HP Proliant- servers in Gujarat. "Our range of G-7 serves is an ideal fit for new age data centres as it helps reduce operational cost nearly by 85 per cent," Hewlett Packard Director ISS Business Unit Rajesh Dhar told newsmen. "The servers ranging from Rs 30,000 to Rs 9 lakh will be key growth drivers for small & medium business (SMB) who are integrating with global supply chains," Dhar said. The company plans to roll out its new series of servers in 26 cities across India, of which it has already launched it at nine places including metros. "Gujarat is an important market to us as nearly 60-70 per cent of the SMB's are situated in just four towns of Rajkot, Surat, Vadodara and Ahmedabad," he said. Highlighting the technology refreshment in servers, Dhar said one G-7 series server is capable of replacing 20 servers in G-4 series and six of G-5 series. HP has close to 800 channel partners across the country, of which close 30 are located in Gujarat. As per HP estimates, the IT market in India is growing at 2.5 per cent of GDP. The company estimates say nearly 10-15 per cent of its customers come for recycling of electronic waste across all product categories.
