PTI | 09:02 PM,Feb 08,2012

Hyderabad, Feb 8 (PTI) Asserting that its nuclear programme was only for peaceful purposes, the Consul General of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Hyderabad, Mahmoud Safari today said that sanctions by the United States on Iran will not stop it from pursuing the nuclear work. "The right to nuclear energy is the undisputable right of the people of Iran and some of the big powers should not use political pressure to stop us from our lawful right as these sanctions against Iran are not going to divulge us from our aim," Safari told reporters the occasion of 33rd anniversary of the victory of Islamic Revolution in that nation. The nuclear knowledge indigenously built by nuclear scientists in Iran is for peaceful purposes which has been attested by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), that has suggested that the nuclear issue of Iran should be sorted through dialogue, he said. Referring to the US and the European Union ramping up economic pressure on Iran, Safari admitted that the sanctions at some point will impact the Iranian economy, "though...it will not stop us from carrying the nuclear research work." He further alleged that both US and Israel have been making false allegations against Iran over the past three decades and warned that "Iran is ready to take on the enemies if it was attacked." The relationship between India and Iran is expanding and the volume of trade between the two countries has crossed USD 15 billion while Andhra Pradesh has a share of about USD 500 million with Iran, he said. Safari also announced that the Aasman Airlines of Iran will very soon launch its direct flights from Hyderabad to Mashhad. PTI VVK DK DK
