Israel's internal security minister meets Sukhbir Badal
PTI | 06:11 PM,Nov 03,2011Amritsar, Nov 3 (PTI) Israel's Internal Security Minister Yitzhak Aharonovitch today called on Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal and discussed issues of mutual importance. Aharonovitch, who was on a private visit here, said Israel was impressed by the success of Punjab's green revolution that helped in making India self-sufficient on food security front. He said it was matter of great achievement that a state like Punjab with 1.7 per cent geographical area of a country was contributing more than 60 per cent in the national grain pool, a Punjab Government release quoted him as saying. Badal sought Israel's help in 'Modern Micro Irrigation Techniques' and also for conservation of water. He also sought Israel's know how to treat brackish water and use it for drinking.
