

Mamata has breathing problem: Doctor
PTI | 10:08 PM,Aug 11,2010Kolkata, Jun 16 (PTI) On the Centre's assurance that it would assist West Bengal in overcoming its financial crisis, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will meet Union Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee in Delhi next week. "I am leaving for Delhi on Saturday with financial matters of the state on my agenda," Banerjee, who will be visiting the national capital for the first time after becoming chief minister, said here tonight. "I will be in Delhi till Tuesday," Banerjee told reporters at the state secretariat here. State Finance Minister Amit Mitra, who had recently met his Union government counterpart, will accompany her. At their last meeting here on May 29, Mukherjee had assured the Chief Minister of Central assistance to the state to overcome the current financial crisis with the debt burden having already reached over Rs 1.85 lakh crore as on March 31 and estimated to go up to over Rs 2 lakh crore during this financial year. Mukherjee had, at the meeting, agreed with Banerjee's description of the situation as "difficult" and had assured her that long and short-term assistance was necessary for the state.
