Developmental work undertaken by the government under various schemes have come to a standstill," Bipra Charan Bisi, Sarpanch of Telenpalli gram panchayat, said here.About 60 Maoists, including women cadres, had raided the house of Rajkishore Panda (50) at Telenpalli in the Khaprakhol police station area on August 14 and shot him dead suspecting him to be a police informer.Panda was under the target of Maoists for some time after a Maoist cadre was inadvertently beaten up by a few villagers. After being threatened by Maoists, the people had sought Panda's help and subsequently the matter was brought to the notice of the police.Panda was the block nominee of ruling BJD Lok Sabha member Kalikesh Narayan Singhdeo for supervising developmental works in the area.Assistant engineer of Khaprakhol block Manoj Kumar Behera said developmental work including centrally sponsored Integrated Action Plan (IAP) had been affected in the block.Work in at least three projects involving an expenditure of Rs 17.5 lakh (rpt lakh) under IAP which had already commenced remained suspended as people stopped coming to work. While construction of roads and culverts were being taken up in Telenpalli, similar works were underway on Jharbahal and Chatrabota area. The IAP is aimed at development in Maoist-hit areas of different states.District collector Sailendra Narayan Dey, however, said the work had not stopped completely in the area, and if it was affected in some places, work would be normal very soon.
