PTI | 03:12 PM,Dec 23,2011Phagwara, Dec 23 (PTI)Protesting the alleged "intentional" delay by the Punjab government in accepting their "long pending" demands, members of the Punjab Medical Laboratory Technicians Association today went on a two-day strike. The pen-down tool-down strike has paralysed the work of medical laboratories, blood banks in government hospitals and food and chemical laboratories, the association claimed. They held demonstrations and rallies in protest against alleged "intentional" delay on the part of Punjab government in accepting their long-pending demands. "The flash strike was resorted to by 1,250 medical technicians in 400 state hospitals, primary health centres, dispensaries and mini primary health centres on a telephonic call by association's state president Sikander Singh, association secretary Jhirmal Singh Bhinder said here. Claiming the strike to be complete, Bhinder said that even emergency and life-saving services were not attended. The strike will continue tomorrow and will be followed by a state-level rally in Gidderbaha on December 25, said Bhinder. They are demanding house rent and risk allowances among other things. The medical laboratory technicians had earlier resorted to a four-day mass casual leave strike from December 14 to December 17. It was preceded by two-day pen-down tool-down strike on December 12 and 13.
