Meira meets Super 30 founder, students
PTI | 08:06 PM,Jun 03,2011Patna, Jun 3 (PTI) Lok Sabha speaker Meira Kumar today met the students of Super 30 of Anand Kumar who made it to the IIT-JEE and felicitated them. "It is an auspicious day for me... I wanted to offer some donation from Lok Sabha fund to the institute. "But I came to know about it from the Super 30 founder that he doesn't accept donation for his innovative mission, " she said. The Speaker was impressed when Anand told her that a total 236 students from Super 30 had been successful in the last 9 years with all 30 from each making it to IIT-JEE during the past 3 years. This year 24 students have emerged successful, Anand said adding that wards of a roadside vendor, a mobile mechanic, a marginal farmer, truck driver and IV employees could chase their IIT-JEE dream. It would not have been possible without commitment and hard work under Anand's expert guidance, she said. Super 30, a school where Anand Kumar grooms 30 poor but talented students for nearly one year and provides them free coaching, stay and food, have fetched the founder global recognition with Time and Newsweek magazines as well as those from China, France and Japan doing special features on his innovative school. Anand does not take any financial help from the government or any organisation and supports Super 30 from what he earns from his tuition centre.
