

Militant among eight held along Bangla border
PTI | 03:08 PM,Aug 27,2010Shillong, Aug 27 (PTI) Eight people, including a cadre of Muslim United Liberation Tigers of Assam (MULTA) and a Bangladeshi national, were caught by BSF along Indo-Bangla border.The troops at Haldiaganj apprehended six Indian nationals when they were trying to cross over to Bangladesh in Assam's Dhubri district last night.They have been identified as Md Noor Mandal, Md Mujibar Ali Seikh, Md Rabiqul Islam, Md Sakir Bhuwa, Md Islam Mullah and Md Isalmullah, a release from BSF frontier headquarters here said.In a joint operation with Assam police, BSF caught one MULTA cadre - Hazrat Ali � and seized three crude bombs from his house in Majarswar.One Bangladeshi national was held in Meghalaya's West Garo Hills district while he was trying to exfiltrate into Bangladesh from India. He has been identified as Riazal Karim.Besides, the border guards also seized 122 cattle, forest product and other contraband items worth Rs 20 lakh from the borders in Assam and Meghalaya.
