

Neo Sports to soon enter Canada, US, Caribbean
PTI | 05:09 PM,Sep 30,2010Mumbai, Sep 30 (PTI) Leading sports channel, Neo Sports that also runs Neo Cricket, is soon planning to enter the North American market starting with Canada in October in tie-ups with local DTH (Direct-to-Home) players, a top company official said. The channel is also looking at doubling its turnover from the DTH segment this year, the official said. While he did not share its current revenues from the segment, it is expected to be around Rs 75-crore. "We are entering into the North American market. Next month we will start our operations in Canada as there is a huge Indian population and hence we are expecting a good response for NEO Cricket. Soon, we plan to enter the US market as well and with this we see an USD 25-million opportunity next year," Neo Sports Broadcast's COO, Prasanna Krishnan, told PTI here. After this, the company plans to enter the Carribean Islands, he said. The company has also tied-up with India's leading DTH player Dish TV, a part of the Zee Group, and is already on air. With this agreement, Neo Sports is now available on all DTH platforms. "We are extremely delighted to partner with India's leading DTH service provider--Dish TV. With this alliance, NEO channels which have been the leading sports channels in India for the last few years will now be available to the 8-million Dish TV subscribers. We look forward to a fruitful relationship with Dish TV in providing exciting sports action to their subscribers," he added.
