Panaji, Aug 12 (PTI) National award winning Goan filmmaker Rajendra Talak, says his next Konkani flick 'O Maria', which is expected to be premiered at IFFI 2010, will be a mirror of the real issues and happenings in the tourist state. Goa has recently witnessed spate of crimes against tourists and also several social issues like drug menace, land scams and migration have become a major cause of concern. "O Maria will speak on real and social issues battering the state. The focus of the film will be on the happenings that forced the state to plunge into crisis recently," Talak told PTI. The film will be ready by November end and will vie for a spot in the Indian Premier section of the upcoming edition of International Film Festival of India. Talak, who has directed half a dozen Marathi and Konkani films has teamed up with renowned music composer-singer Remo Fernandes for this project. Remo himself has been vociferous against the degeneration, through his songs since 80s when he penned them asking people to save the state from plunderers. "There is something beyond just making a cinema for entertainment. A director or a producer wants to give something back to the society. Precisely, thats what we are doing here," Talak said about 'O Maria'. The filmmaker clinched five national awards in 2007 for his Konkani-Marathi film 'Antarnad'. The film was shot twice-- once in Konkani and then in Marathi with different set of artists. Talak's Konkani film 'Alisha', which made a strong statement on the mining industry, tattering state's ecology, had also bagged the national award for best director in 2004.(MORE) PTI RPS DK DK
