

One more swine flu death in Kolkata
PTI | 11:07 PM,Jul 28,2010Kolkata, July 28 (PTI) One more person died of swine flu here today taking the toll to two in West Bengal, while nine fresh cases have been reported.The victim, a 61-year-old woman, was admitted to the B M Birla Heart Research Centre here on July 26 with multiple health problems, hospital sources said, adding the infection was detected on the same day.Earlier on July 20, an elderly person, undergoing chemotherapy for cancer, died of the disease at a private hospital.Nine more confirmed cases of swine flu were reported in in the state during the day, a press released issued by Health Department said.There were 26 other patients in hospital, of whom four were in a critical condition, it added.The affected were being treated at state and private hospitals.The Department has decided to identify and disinfect areas affected by the disease to prevent its spread.Stating that the situation was being monitored daily, the release said that the cumulative confirmed cases of re-assorted Influenza A (H1N1) were 82 during the year.The swine flu cases were on the rise due to the onset of monsoon, it added.
