

Pink Ribbon walk in Hyd to create awareness on breast cancer
PTI | 10:09 PM,Sep 30,2010Hyderabad, Sep 30 (PTI) The Ushalakshmi Breast Cancer Foundation and the United States Consulate General have joined hands to create awareness about the importance of early detection of breast cancer among women in Andhra Pradesh. Towards building awareness about this disease, they will organise a Pink Ribbon walk from KBR Park to Indira Park here on October 3, it was announced at a press conference here. Dadasaheb Phalke Awardee and renowned actor Akkineni Nageshwara Rao will flag the Pink Ribbon walk, organisers said. Speaking on the occasion Consul General Katherine Dhanani said that She said that Having lost some dear ones to breast cancer, I do not want one more woman to die of it. That's why she was participating in Pink Ribbon Walk 2010. "We walk together to show our solidarity and commitment to spread the word about early detection of the disease," she said. Besides the walk, month-long programmes have also been planned, the organisers said.
