Poacher held, 10 antlers seized in Uttarakhand
PTI | 05:09 PM,Sep 09,2011Dehradun, Sep 9 (PTI) A suspected poacher was arrested and 10 antlers of Cheetal and Sambhar (species of deer), weighing 4.25 kg, were recovered from his possession in Kotdwar area of Pauri district, a forest department official said today.Acting on a tip-off, a forest team raided a house at Vikasnagar Garighat area last evening and arrested Karnail Singh, a resident of Haryana. The personnel recovered the antlers kept in a polythene bag in an underground water tank, Range Officer of Kotdwar forest division J P Kukreti said.During interrogation, Singh denied his involvement in the matter, he said.Meanwhile, the accused was today produced before a local court which sent him to jail, Kukreti added.
