

Punjab Govt warns against unauthorised use of national emblem
PTI | 06:09 PM,Sep 28,2010Chandigarh, Sep 28 (PTI) The Punjab Government today warned against unauthorised use of the national emblem by individuals, associations and organisations in the state, saying its misuse is punishable under the law. The government has already issued detailed guidelines regarding its use and safeguards for checking the misuse of the national emblem, an official spokesman said here. As per the provisions in the State Emblem of India (Prohibition of Improper use) Act 2005, the Government has specified the list of constitutional or statutory authorities, ministries or departments of the central government or union territory administrations and other government functionaries for use of the national emblem, he said. The spokesman said that no person shall use the national emblem for the purpose of any trade, business and profession or in the title of any patent or in any trademark or design. Any person violating these norms shall be punished under the Act, he added.
