

Rural job scheme: Chhattisgarh ahead of national average
PTI | 11:09 PM,Sep 01,2010Raipur, Sep 1 (PTI) The BJP-ruled Chhattisgarh has performed better than national average on several indicators in regard to implementation of the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Scheme (MGNRES), official sources said today.In 2009-10, the state spent 81.48 per cent of the funds under the scheme as compared to the national average of 61.29 per cent, they said.Under the flagship scheme of the Congress-headed UPA, an average 1.26 lakh families have got job in every district of Chhattisgarh, well above the national average of 84,814, they said.In 2009-10, 56 per cent of the tasks undertaken were completed, which was higher than the nationwide average of 46 per cent, the sources said.In 2008-09 also, the tribal-dominated state was ahead of national average on counts like total funds spent, tasks undertaken and completed, they said.In the current fiscal (till August 31), 5.29 crore mandays of work had been given to the villagers, they added.PTI SNG
