PTI | 11:12 PM,Dec 27,2011Chinsurah (WB), Dec 27 (PTI) A senior ONGC official was injured after being thrashed by local rowdies at his Bandel residence in Hooghly district, police sources said tonight. Satyabrata Mukherjee, a top engineer of the PSU posted at Agartala, was now being treated at a private hospital in Kolkata after some youth landed blows on him following an argument over right of way to his car at around 12.30 am on December 25, they said. Mukherjee was on a Christmas vacation to his West Bengal residence. The youths, who were blocking way as Mukherjee was driving back to his residence, picked up a fight as the senior official honked and urged them to give way. No sooner than Mukherjee entered home after the brief altercation, the miscreants barged into his residence, smashed window panes and dragged out the official beating him severely, the sources said quoting family and eyewitness account. Mukherjee, who suffered gashes in his left eye, was now in stable condition at the private hospital. When contacted Additional SP (Industrial) Amitabh Verma said raids were on to net the offenders but Mukherjee's wife has been asked to lodge a specific case so that the attackers can be identified.
