SL national arrested for smuggling Rs 1.5 cr diamonds

Chennai, Oct 27 (PTI): A 43 year-old Sri Lankan national was arrested at the airport here last evening for allegedly smuggling diamonds worth Rs 1.5 crore hidden in a condom. Police said Mohammed Kabir had arrived in Chennai by an Air India Express from Colombo last evening. When police questioned him on suspicion, he gave inconsistent replies and later confessed he had hidden the diamonds in a condom which he had swallowed. He was later taken to a nearby government hospital where the diamonds were removed by doctors, police said.
