

Three killed in explosion
PTI | 09:10 PM,Oct 24,2010Fatehpur (UP), Oct 24 (PTI) Three members of a dalit family here were today killed and two others seriously injured in an explosion at a house where fire crackers were being manufactured illegally, police said. Sunita (35), her son Shyam (8) and father Ram Kishore (60) were killed in the explosion which took place while fire-crackers were illegally being manufactured in the house at Rampur village in Lallauli area, they said, adding the house collapsed due to the blast. Ram (10) and Uma (15) were injured in the incident and admitted in hospital where their condition was stated to be serious, police said. Meanwhile, Director General of Police has directed all district level officers to launch a drive to check illegal manufacturing of fire-crackers in Uttar Pradesh. "DGP Karamveer Singh has issued a circular directing the district level officers to effectively check manufacturing of unauthorised fire-crackers," Additional Director General of Police Brij Lal told reporters here. Seven persons were killed and four others injured during blasts at fire-cracker units in Kanpur and Maharajganj yesterday. He said it has been directed that joint checking of fire-cracker shops would be done by the circle officers and sub-divisional magistrates.
