Use JaxtrSMS for better governance, Bhatia urges WB govt
PTI | 01:12 AM,Dec 11,2011Kolkata, Dec 10 (PTI) Sabeer Bhatia, founder of Hotmail email service, today gave a proposal to the West Bengal government that his latest -- a free worldwide SMS service -- could be used in the state for better governance. Bhatia said he gave the proposal during his meeting with state Finance Minister Amit Mitra, who assured him to look after his proposal. JaxtrSMS, a mobile phone application for sending free unlimited text messages to any phone anywhere in the world, was launched last month. The ruling Trinamool Congress had roped in Bhatia before the assembly election earlier this year to advise on the party's campaign in the cyber world. Cloud computing, e-governance and laying of optical fire cable along the coast of the state were also discussed during the meeting, Bhatia said.
