VHP call for Yavatmal bandh tomorrow
PTI | 09:09 PM,Sep 03,2010Nagpur, Sep 3 (PTI) Vidarbha branch of Vishwa Hindu Parishad has given a Yavatmal district bandh call tomorrow in protest against the killing of three of its members in Aarni village on Digras road in the district. Three VHP activists were allegedly murdered when they tried to prevent illegal sand excavation and theft from near the century-old Shiv Mandir yesterday, VHP secretary Hemant Jambhekar alleged today at a press conference here. He said members of a minority community were indulging in illegal activities despite several complaints and the local police failed to take action against them. They had even threatened the local priest of the Shiv temple earlier, he alleged. The villagers have decided not to cremate the trio unless the alleged murderers were arrested, Jambhekar claimed.
