

YC to conduct three-day rally on benefits of Koodankulam
PTI | 05:02 PM,Feb 08,2012Erode, Feb 8 (PTI) Youth Congress members will hold a three-day rally from Tirunelveli to Koodankulam from February 10 and meet the residents of the those living around the Koodankulam Nuclear Power Project (KNPP) about the benefits of the project and the safety aspects taken inside and outside the plant. M Yuvaraja, State Youth Congress President, said yesterday that if the Plant started production, Tamil Nadu would be the main state that would benefit. He urged the Union Government to expedite the inauguration of the Plant. Yuvaraja also demanded that the Union and State Governments to book under Goondas Act S P Udayakumar, Coordinator, People's Movement Against Nuclear Energy, spearheading the anti-KNPP movement in Koodankulam as he is "misleading the people and creating unnecessary fear over the Plant". He also requested the State government to postpone the tenth and 12th standard public exams due to the frequent power cuts across the state in the past few months.
