Chandigarh inspector murdered, suspicion on colleague

An inspector of the Chandigarh Police was stabbed to death by a youth in the early hours of on Saturday and investigators are looking into the role of a fugitive policeman in the murder, an official said. Inspector Sucha Singh succumbed to the stab injuries at the Post-Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) here after the attack around 3 am.

Aadhaar card enrolment 99 per cent in Chandigarh

The enrolment for Aadhaar card has touched 99 per cent and 88.6 per cent in Union Territory of Chandigarh and Himachal Pradesh respectively. The enrolment figure under the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) scheme in Punjab and Haryana is 62.9 per cent and 30.1 per cent respectively so far, Keshni Anand Arora, UIDAI, Deputy Director General (Northern Region), said.

Police suspect gangrape as minor girl dies of injuries

A nine-year-old girl was allegedly gangraped in Durg district of Chhattisgarh and died on Tuesday, police said. The girl, who was dumped in a ground adjacent to her house here with serious injuries on Tuesday morning, succumbed to her injuries in a government hospital in the evening, they said.

Four incidents of sexual assault, including that on a teenager and a minor, have been reported from Chandigarh within 24 hours, with one person getting arrested for his alleged involvement in one of the cases.
