A visually impaired woman of substance who did not deter from her dreams is today a proud Managing Trustee/ Founder of Mitra Jyothi. Mitra Jyothi is a charitable trust that works with the objective of integrating people with special abilities into the mainstream society. She has done her B.A from Maharishi Dayanand University, and was felicitated as “The best all-rounder student”, post which she went on to do M.A in Hindustani classical vocal music.

The journey of Mitra Jyothi began in 1990, with the support of 8 other dedicated individuals. The foundation has been in operation for over 20 years now and has helped over 5,000 people in transforming their lives. The organization provides vocational training, education and a digital library for the visually impaired.

Avinash Kumar Tiwari

If someone were to grant you a wish, what would you ask for? True love? A successful career? Winning a lottery... But Avinash’s expectations from life were very different. After his one leg was afflicted with polio at the nascent age of three, Avinash nursed the dream to work for the welfare of physically challenged. Since, 2004 Kumar has been living his dream after having instituted a school for physically challenged children. The school provides free of cost education, food, accommodation facilities and a vocational training programme for specially-abled children.
