

Facebook stock down on day two
New York: Facebook's stock is tumbling well below its $38 IPO price in the social network's second day of trading as a public company on Monday.
Investors and technology industry watchers are closely tracking the Menlo Park, Calif.-based company's shares. The world's largest online social network was one of the most anticipated initial public stock offerings ever, and now serves as a bellwether for other social media companies.

Crucial week for Facebook after modest debut
New York: Newly issued shares in Facebook Inc may have a hard time in the coming week if lead underwriter Morgan Stanley stops supporting the stock and managers lower down in the IPO book who were hoping for an early surge decide to get out before going underwater.
Facebook on Friday sold 421 million shares of stock in a deal that valued the company at more than $100 billion. But investors, expecting a first-day pop in price, instead saw it close just 0.6 per cent above the IPO price at $38.23.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 pre-booking starts in India
New Delhi: Samsung's official online store has started pre-booking for the Galaxy Tab 2 (GT-P3100 ) tablet in India. Priced at Rs 23,250, the tablet will be officially launched in India soon.
The tablet was first announced in February 2012. It is Samsung's first Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich)-powered tablet.

Microsoft launches So.cl social network
New Delhi: Microsoft has silently launched its social network So.Cl, which has been in private beta since December 2011. The site is now out of beta and is available to all users.
So.cl, pronounced "social", is an experimental research project, developed by Microsoft's FUSE Labs, focused on exploring the possibilities of social search for the purpose of learning.

Sony Xperia P up for pre-order on Infibeam
New Delhi: Rounding off the last of the Xperia phones to be announced is the Sony Xperia P, which is up for pre-order, right now on Infibeam.com for Rs 25,500.
The phone will be available from May 25 onwards across the country. The Xperia P is a slightly tamed version of the Xperia S and will feature a 4-inch Reality Display that Sony claims is the brightest on any screen, so far.

Texting kills 5,000 people every year in the US
Washington: Texting and talking on cell phones behind the wheel kills more than 5,000 people every year on US highways. Teen drivers seem to be especially susceptible to distraction, a study says.
A 2009 study focusing on drivers of larger vehicles and trucks has concluded that texting raised the risk of a crash by 23 times compared with non-distracted driving, says an environmental report.

iPhone app tells you when to water your plants
London: Now your garden plants need not die of neglect, thanks to an iPhone application that tells you when they need watering.
The Koubachi Wi-fi plant sensor and application costs a steep 99 pounds. It requires a sensor which sits with the plant, monitoring it and checking its vital signs against a built-in botanic encyclopedia.

Nasdaq 'embarrassed' at Facebook delay: Reports
New York: The CEO of the Nasdaq stock exchange says it is "humbly embarrassed" by its bungling of Facebook's hugely anticipated debut as a public company on Friday.
Robert Greifeld tells news media there's no indication the delay contributed to the underwhelming performance of Facebook's stock, which ended at $38.23 - 23 cents above where it began.
