New Delhi: Just before his retirement, Army Chief Gen VK Singh has ratified a court martial decision to dismiss former military secretary Lt Gen Avadesh Prakash from service after he was found guilty by an Army court in the Sukna land scam case.

The dismissal means that he will not get any benefits like pension and will not be entitled to use Army rank or any privilege attached with military service.

New Delhi: A major fire broke out on Sunday at a garment factory in east Delhi. At least 27 fire tenders were rushed to the spot to douse the fire.

Efforts are on to douse the flames in which no casualty has been reported so far.

Nay Pyi Taw: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Sunday arrived at Nay Pyi Taw, the new Myanmarese capital, on a three-day visit during which the two countries are expected to take a series of initiatives to bolster bilateral relations in several key areas, including energy, trade and connectivity sector.

In a pre-departure statement, Singh said that his visit "will provide an opportunity to review the progress in implementation of decisions" taken during the "highly successful visit" of Myanmar President Thein Sein to India in October 2011.

New Delhi: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh left for Myanmar on Sunday in a historic visit by an Indian prime minister that comes after a gap of 25 years. The PM said before his departure that India and Myanmar would explore new initiatives and define a roadmap for further boosting of bilateral ties with focus on trade, investment and connectivity during his three-day visit.

Pointing out that India attaches the highest importance to its relations with Myanmar, a "close friend and neighbour", Singh said that "recent years have witnessed significant strengthening and expansion of our bilateral relations" and his coming visit "will provide an opportunity to review the progress in implementation of decisions" taken during the "highly successful visit" of Myanmar President Thein Sein to India in October 2011.
