'Jayahe' is a bad rehash of many films
Film: Jayahe; Director: Thriller Manju; Cast: Ayesha, Jai Akash, Gauri Pandit, Suryanarayana, Avinash, Guru Murthy and Suresh; Music: Krupakar.
Thriller Manju is a well-known action choreographer of Kannada and Telugu films. He has also dabbled in direction many times with disastrous results. But he apparently refuses to learn a few lessons from his past mistakes. His bilingual film Jayahe, which has been released first in Kannada, can be a torturous two-hour watch.

'Nooru Janmaku' is about recession
Nooru Janmaku the title is taken from a song from the director's earlier film titled America! America!!.
This film conveys the pressing subject of recession. Probably for the first time in Indian films, the story deals with recession, both economical and emotional, its aftermath and the moral dilemma the affected are faced with.
Prithvi: A fast paced action thriller
Film: Prithvi; Director: Jacob Verghese; Cast: Puneet Rajkumar, Parvathi Menon, Avinash, Sadhu Kokila, Shrinivasmurthy and CR Simha; Producer: Soorappa Babu; Music Director: Manikanth Kadri; Dialogues: Manju Mandovi.
Prithvi is a slap on the face of the current state of affairs of Karnataka politics, and a coming of age film for Puneet Rajkumar.

'Ullasa Utsaha' is timepass
This film has been delayed for some time before it finally hit the screens last Friday. Ullasa Utsaha was contesting the biggie and much anticipated Prithvi starring Puneeth Rajkumar - underlining the illegal mining activities in the Bellary region aka the present scenario in Karnataka politics and the Reddy mining barons.
This is a small film by production value. The film stars Ganesh and Hindi serial actress Yami Goutham. Directed by Devraj Palan, this film is a romantic comedy.

'Sihi Gaali' is boring
Film: Sihi Gaali
Cast: Sri Murali, Shirin, Thulasi Shivamani, Sharan and others

'Vimukthi', best parallel movie
National Award-winning film Vimukthi, which has released now in a few theatres in Bangalore, is certainly one of the best by director P Sheshadri, who takes up stories revolving around contemporary social and political issues.
Vimukthi, written by Sheshadri himself, is based on a Kannada newspaper article published a couple of years ago.
