The Ernakulam Additional Sessions Court has awarded ten years rigorous imprisonment to Noushad for his involvement in drug trafficking.

Noushad is also accused of supplying SIM cards to Thadiyantevida Nazeer, a terror accused at the Ernakulam Sub-Jail.

Judge B Vijayan slapped a fine of Rs 1 lakh to Noushad for possessing 3,000 drug ampules at his rented house at Ponekkara.

The prosecution submitted that Noushad had handed over the SIM cards to Thadiyantevida Nazeer while he was in jail as an undertrial prisoner in the drug trafficking case. The SIM card was passed on to Noushad by his wife Shahina who visited him at the jail.

The calls were then made using the SIM card to the UAE, UK, Kazakhstan, Tamil Nadu and Uttar Pradesh. The SIM card was purchased by Shahina under Noushad’s direction, the prosecution submitted.
