New Delhi: Railway Police Force arrested 12 people have on Thursday morning from different reservation counters across Delhi for booking railway tickets in bulk, intending to sell them at a higher price.
Every morning the touts would reach rail reservation counters much before 8 AM, when counters open for tatkal booking. They would at the same time book several tatkal tickets on fake names. So many bookings coming in at the same time would cause the Indian railways website to crash. By the time reservation counters opened at 8 AM, the tatkal ticket quota would be sold out.
The tatkal service was welcomed by the common man when it was launched a few years ago. Waiting in long lines was considered history but the arrest shows that even the most ingenuous schemes can fall prey to people who want to make a quick buck.
