12 percent quota for STs in Telangana state: KCR

indianexpressExpress News Service

HYDERABAD: The Telangana Rashtra Samiti has promised 12 per cent reservation to Lambadas and other Scheduled Tribes in education and employment, and upgradation of all Tandas as gram panchayats if a separate Telangana state is formed.
Speaking at a meeting organised to celebrate the birth anniversary of Sevalal Maharaj, Lambadas’ spiritual guru, at Telangana Bhavan here on Saturday, TRS president K Chandrasekhar Rao attacked all political parties in his inimitable style and said all of them were using STs as a vote-bank but were not genuinely interested in the community’s welfare.
“Once Telangana is formed, the TRS government will construct Banjara Bhavan in a one-acre site at Banjara Hills in Hyderabad and celebrate the Sevalal Maharaj’s birth anniversary officially at Telangana Bhavan every year,’’ Rao said.
ST leader Ramlu Nayak and several other leaders of the party took part in the programme.
