14-year sentence in Dhaula Kuan rape case

New Delhi: A city court on Thursday sentenced one person to 14 years in prison for the rape of a Delhi University student in a moving car near Dhaula Kuan four years ago.

Additional Sessions Judge Neeraj Kumar Gupta sentenced Ajit Singh Katiyar for abduction, rape and criminal intimidation.

The court also imposed a fine of Rs 20,000 on him. Katiyar was convicted on December 8.

In 2005, four men in a car abducted the student, who belongs to the Northeast, from near a Dhaula Kuan eatery late at night.

After forcibly dragging the girl into the car, the men raped her in the moving vehicle.
