15 killed in road accident in JK

Jammu: At least 15 people were killed and 29 others injured when the bus in which they were travelling rolled down into a deep gorge in Jammu and Kashmir's Ramban district this morning, official sources said.

The bus, on its way from Srinagar to Jammu, skidded off the road and rolled down into a 400 feet deep gorge at Sherbibi area in the district around 0530 hours, they the agency.

Most of the victims are labourers hailing from Uttar Pradesh.

Army and police have launched rescue operations and have so far recovered 13 bodies from the spot, they said, adding that the injured have shifted to a hospital.

Twenty five persons were airlifted to Jammu and Udhampur areas and for treatment. Eleven among the 23 injured were admitted to GMC hospital in Jammu.
