New Delhi: Two CPM leaders have died after allegedly being attacked by the Trinamool supporters on Wednesday. According to reports, Trinamool supporters attacked a CPM rally which was taken out in the Dewandighi area of Burdwan in West Bengal on Wednesday morning in support of the general strike called on February 28.
Sources have said that former CPM MLA from Burdwan, Pradip Taa was hacked to death allegedly by the TMC sheltered criminals during the attack.
Another critically injured CPM leader Kamal Gayen also succumbed to his injuries. He passed away while he was being transferred to SSKM Hospital in Kolkata from Burdwan Medical College.
The attackers armed with spears, rods and lathis attacked Tah and CPI(M) district committee member Kamal Gayen at Dewandighi area in the town, Burdwan Superintendent of Police SAM Mirza told reporters.
Gayen was rushed to the Burdwan Medical College and Hospital and Gayen to a Kolkata hospital, where both died of their injuries, Mirza said.
Police sources said four Trinamool Congress supporters from Mirzapur area Choton Chakraborty, Patitpaban Tah, Suji Tah and Gopal Goswami have been arrested. The police were searching for some more attackers, the sources said.
