New Delhi: Two weeks after the September 13 serial blasts, Delhi Police is grappling with yet another terror strike.
Sources in police say that the Saturday’s Mehrauli blasts bear no similarity with attacks in the past and point towards the involvement of a different outfit to Indian Mujahideen.
Preliminary investigations reveal that a crude bomb, possibly containing ammonium nitrate, was used.
The Faridabad Police picked up two people on Sunday, one of whom allegedly made the call at 1817 hrs IST on Friday, warning of another terrorist attack.
“The call was traced to the house of someone called Ramesh in Faridabad, but no Ramesh lives there. Instead, the owner of the SIM has been traced to Aligarh, while the person who sold the SIM has been traced to Balabhgarh. We have detained both of them,” Faridabad SSO Srikant Jhadav said.
But Delhi Police have not detained anyone so far. Officials say there are no clear links between the people picked up by the Faridabad Police and the Mehrauli blast as yet.
Meanwhile, the South district police is trying to draw parallels with the blasts that had taken place in Andheria More, Lado Sarai and IIT flyover in the last one and a half years.
On Saturday, the police confirmed that the Mehrauli blast was indeed a terrorist attack. But the question is why the case is still with the south district police and not with the special cell — the branch of the Delhi Police that has been handling investigations in almost every terror attack.
